wearing our wedding ring, a reminder of the Holy Spirit
Youngeun Joyce Kang
Sometimes we are like the disciples who were gazing up toward heaven when Jesus went up
Sometimes we are struggling with traumatic experiences
Sometimes we are afraid of being left behind
Sometimes we are grieving our losses
However, we are believing your promise to come again
However, we are staying in painful places
However, we are waiting for our wedding day as your Bride*
However, we are grateful for the wedding ring, the Holy Spirit who is helping us to wait for our Bridegroom
*As a Jewish betroth and wedding tradition at Jesus’ age, bridegroom left the wedding ring(there is no betroth ring) on the Bride’index finger on the right hand as a reminder of their betroth until the wedding day a year or two years later. Meanwhile bridegroom prepared for their new house. The bride could wear her wedding ring from her index finger to the ring finger.
Jesus is our Bridegroom and we are HIS bride (Ephesians 5:25-27, Revelations 19:7-9) He left the Holy Spirit as our wedding ring to us. He is preparing for our new home. He is coming back, and it will be our wedding day!
