I was born as a thorn tree, Like the song I often sang when I was young, A tree with so much of myself inside that even a small bird can't rest, When the wind blows, the tree cries out, entwining with each other. Called a selfish, sharp tree, where my achievements and work were so important.
Snowflakes settled like dewdrops on the thorn tree, Like singing a song I couldn't sing, A tree that bloomed flowers with white snowflakes on each thorn, When the wind blows, the tree falls even more beautifully. Called a sacrificial, gentle tree, thinking of others first.
On the humble and ugly thorn tree, You showered white snowflakes, making it a tree of the other world. Overwhelmed, with no place to hold my heart, Scattering my snowflakes, covering other thorn trees, Praying to live forever in a snow-covered forest filled with white snowflakes.
*November 20, reflecting on the past 15 years of life on an airplane, thanking God for putting a bit of Jesus' life into my thorn-like life, enabling me to take care of my children and churches, writing this poem while shedding tears.
