아버지인 당신을 존경합니다 (I respect you as a father)

하나님을 진심으로 사랑하고 그 사랑으로 아이들을 사랑하는 당신을 존경합니다. 

한 명 한 명의 특징을 잘 알고, 어떻게 대화해야 하며, 각자의 사랑의 언어로 사랑을 표현해주는 당신을 존경합니다. 

인생의 목표가 자기가 아닌 하나님께서 주신 아내, 자녀들, 성도들이어서 "좋은 남편 좋은 아빠 좋은 목회자"가 꿈인 당신을 존경합니다. 

아직 미성숙한 모습을 보일 때 자녀들에게 가장 부드럽고 온화한 목소리로 양육하며 마음의 변화를 주는 당신을 존경합니다. 

아무리 바빠도 아이들 씻기고, 재우고, 먹이고, 돌보는 일을 모두 함께 한 당신을 존경합니다. 

먼 거리 여행 후 모든 식구가 다 잠이 들어도 북동부 끝 마을 홀튼까지 혼자서 졸지도 않고 운전하며 온 가정의 안전을 먼저 생각하는 당신을 존경합니다. 

아이들에게 많은 자유를 주어 존중을 표현하면서도 가장 중요한 삶의 가치와 우선순위에서는 타협없이 자연스럽게 방향을 제시하는 당신을 존경합니다. 

코미디 프로그램을 볼 때도 성경 이야기를 할 때도 자신의 옛날 이야기를 들려줄 때도 심지어 다같이 엄마를 놀릴 때에도 우리들을 마음껏 크게 언제나 웃게 해주는 당신을 존경합니다. 

아이들 자전거를 고쳐주거나 트램폴린을 설치해주거나 해먹을 달아주거나 우리 가족이 원하는 모든 것을 최선을 다해서 제공해주고 공급해주는 당신을 존경합니다. 

부모님을 존경하고, 어른을 공경하며 아이들에게 먼저 효도의 본이 되는 당신을 존경합니다. 

말이 아닌 삶으로 진정한 목회자의 모습을 가정 안에서 보여주고 말씀을 가르치는 당신을 존경합니다.

방학 때 매일마다 아이들을 도서관에 데리고 가서 책을 읽어주는 당신을 존경합니다. 

피곤해서 눈이 감기면서도 아이들이 자기 전에 아이들에게 재밌게 성경 이야기나 이야기 짓기 등을 해주는 당신을 존경합니다.   

해야 할 일이 산더미인데도 아이들 생일에 사진첩을 선물하기 위해 열심히 사진을 고르는 당신을 존경합니다. 

하나님 아버지의 모습을 당신을 통해 느끼고 보고 만지고 경험할 수 있게 해주는 당신을 존경합니다.

I respect you who genuinely love God and, with that same love, love our children.

I respect you who know each child's unique traits well, know how to converse with them, and express love in each of their unique "love languages."

I respect you whose life's goal is not yourself, but your wife, children, and congregants given by God, and whose dream is to be a "good husband, good father, and good pastor."

I respect those who, even when they show immature behavior, nurture our children with the softest and gentlest voice, bringing about a change in their hearts.

I respect you who, no matter how busy you are, have always shared in the tasks of bathing, putting to bed, feeding, and caring for the children.

I respect you who, even after a long journey when everyone else in the family has fallen asleep, drive alone without dozing off all the way to Houlton, a town at the very end of the Northeast, always prioritizing the safety of our entire family.

I respect you who, while giving the children much freedom to express themselves and showing them respect, naturally guide them without compromise on the most important life values and priorities.

I respect you who always make us laugh heartily, whether watching comedy programs, telling Bible stories, sharing your old stories, or even when we're all teasing Mom together.

I respect you who do your best to provide and supply everything our family desires, whether it's fixing the children's bicycles, installing a trampoline, or hanging a hammock.

I respect those who respect their parents, honor elders, and set a primary example of filial piety for our children.

I respect you who, not just by words but by your life, show the true image of a pastor within our home and teach us God's Word.

I respect you who, during vacations, take the children to the library every day and read books to them.

I respect you who, even when your eyes are heavy with fatigue, tell interesting Bible stories or create stories for the children before they go to sleep.

I respect you who, even with a mountain of tasks to do, diligently choose photos to create a photo album as a gift for your children's birthdays.

I respect you who allow us to feel, see, touch, and experience the image of God the Father through you.
