Extravagant Love (과분하고 넘치는 사랑)

 

 

 

 

I think this is exactly what you would call "extravagant love."

Today, a piano arrived at our house. It isn't just any piano—it is a piano soaked in the labor, sweat, and love of so many people. Not knowing how to receive such a gift or how to put this grace into words, I simply received it as I would receive the loving grace of Jesus.

This is the very piano that accompanied us through countless praise songs, special music, and worship services during our 12 years living in Houlton. In particular, our organist, Susan, used this piano to teach our three younger children. Susan first came to the Houlton church 50 years ago following her father, Pastor Kwan Lee, growing up just like our children. When she returned to Houlton a few years ago, our families crossed paths. Pastor Kwan Lee, Susan, her husband Bertrand, and their daughter Sophie all became family to us—spiritually, emotionally, and physically. They poured out their time, energy, and resources for God into our family.

Then, last May, together with the members of the Houlton church, they presented this piano to us as a farewell gift. We were so deeply surprised and overwhelmed by such an unexpected present.

And today, through the hard work and sweat of so many people, that piano finally arrived at our home. From measuring the piano and renting a truck to crafting custom equipment and undertaking a 17-hour journey from Houlton down here to Cape Cod, we received this gift according to God's perfect plan.

Thank you, Pastor Craig, for your hard work, wisdom, skillful hands, and love for us! 

Thank you, Mary and Chuck, for providing a ride and supporting this wonderful crew! 

Thank you, Susan and Bertrand, for helping the spirit of music spread across Cape Cod in so many ways!!

Thank you, Gabriel, for driving almost 17 hours with Iona, from Houlton to Caribou and then from Caribou to Cape Cod!! Without your skilled driving, truck-driving skills, carpentry, wisdom, and strength, this would not have been possible!!

          Thank you, Jonathan and Alice, for helping us today! You are angels to us today!  

And thank you to our entire congregation for making this happen!! We will never, ever forget your love. Wherever we go, we will keep sharing that love with God’s people!!

A piece of our life in Houlton has entered our home, making it feel so much more like home. Watching our five children line up to play the piano as soon as it arrived, my heart filled with deep gratitude for these priceless memories, for this gift, and above all, for such overwhelming love.

We thank God, who was with us through every step of this journey, and we extend our deepest gratitude to our entire Houlton family!

과분하고 넘치는 사랑 (Extravagant Love)

바로 이런 사랑을 '과분하고 넘치는 사랑(Extravagant Love)'이라고 부르지 않을까 싶습니다.

오늘 저희 집에 피아노가 들어왔습니다. 그냥 피아노가 아니라 많은 이들의 수고와 땀과 사랑이 묻어나 있어서, 어떻게 받아야 할지, 어떻게 이 은혜를 말로 표현해야 할지 모른 채로 그저 예수님의 사랑과 은혜를 받듯 받았습니다.

이 피아노는 지난 12년의 홀튼 생활 동안 수많은 찬양과 특송, 예배 때 쓰였던 피아노입니다. 특히 오르가니스트 수잔(Susan)이 이 피아노로 저희 어린 세 아이를 가르쳐 주었습니다. 수잔은 50년 전 아버지 이관영 목사님(Pastor Kwan Lee)을 따라 이곳 홀튼 교회에 와서 저희 아이들처럼 자랐고, 몇 년 전 다시 이곳 홀튼으로 돌아오면서 저희 가정을 만나게 되었습니다. 이관영 목사님, 수잔과 그녀의 남편 베르트랑(Bertrand), 그리고 딸 소피(Sophie)까지 모두 저희에게 영적, 정서적, 육적 가족이 되었습니다. 자신들의 시간과 에너지, 재정을 하나님을 위해 저희 가정에 아낌없이 쏟아부어 주었습니다.

그리고 지난 5월, 홀튼 교회 성도님들과 함께 이 피아노를 저희에게 작별 선물로 전해 주셨습니다. 정말 예상하지 못한 선물에 너무나 놀랐고 깊이 감격하였습니다.

그리고 오늘, 정말 많은 사람들의 수고와 땀을 통해 그 피아노가 마침내 저희 집에 도착했습니다. 피아노 치수를 재고, 트럭을 빌리고, 운반 장치를 직접 만들고, 17시간의 대장정을 거쳐 홀튼에서 이곳 케이프코드로 내려오기까지... 완전하신 하나님의 계획 아래 이 귀한 선물을 받게 되었습니다.

수고와 지혜, 손재주, 그리고 저희를 향한 사랑을 아끼지 않으신 크레이그 목사님(Pastor Craig), 정말 감사합니다! 피아노가 무사히 잘 도착했습니다!!

차편을 제공해 주시고 이 멋진 팀을 물심양면으로 지원해 주신 메리와 척(Mary & Chuck)에게 감사드립니다! 

케이프코드 곳곳에 음악의 영성을 다양한 방법으로 전파할 수 있도록 도와주시는 수잔과 베르트랑(Susan & Bertrand)에게 감사드립니다!!

홀튼에서 카리부까지, 그리고 카리부에서 케이프코드까지 아이오나(Iona)와 함께 17시간 동안 가까이 운전해 준 가브리엘(Gabriel), 정말 감사합니다! 당신의 숙련된 트럭 운전 실력과 목공 기술, 지혜와 힘이 없었다면 이 일은 불가능했을 것입니다!!

          조나단과 앨리스, 오늘 두 분은 하나님께서 보내주신 천사들이었어요!  

그리고 이 모든 일이 가능하도록 함께해 주신 우리 모든 홀튼 성도님들께 감사드립니다!! 홀튼에서의 삶의 한 조각이 저희 집에 들어와 비로소 훨씬 더 '집'다운 집이 되었습니다. 도착하자마자 다섯 아이가 줄을 지어 피아노를 치는 모습을 보면서, 돈으로 살 수 없는 추억과 선물, 그리고 무엇보다 과분한 사랑을 받은 것에 깊이 감사를 드립니다.

이 모든 과정에 함께해 주신 하나님께 감사드리고, 우리 크레이그 목사님과 홀튼의 모든 교우 가족분들께 깊은 감사를 드립니다!

 

여러분의 사랑을 절대로 잊지 않겠습니다. 어디를 가든지 하나님 백성들과 이 사랑을 계속해서 나누겠습니다!!  모두 사랑합니다!! ❤️🥰
