“To receive grace is to vow to let that grace flow through us to others.”
— Max Lucado, Walking with GodLast week, while sitting in one spot for six hours like a student studying for exams to catch up on my M.Div coursework, I was feeling deeply exhausted. But the moment my professor shared this quote, my heart was set on fire once again.During our service yesterday, as I offered the closing prayer, that same warmth flooded my soul so intensely that I could hardly speak through my tears. It was the moment I dedicated Missionary Horace Underwood’s historic prayer back to the Lord. When we walk the true path of discipleship—the path Jesus walked—and serve in ministry, we all encounter our own crosses and hardships. I, too, faced some heavy burdens in my heart this past week. That is why Missionary Underwood’s prayer resonated with me so deeply:“Lord, right now nothing can be seen… When we offer to strip away the pain of those who do not even realize they are in pain, they respond with suspicion and anger…”Compared to the early missionaries who endured humiliation as 'foreign devils' and faced malicious rumors of eating children, the small difficulties I face are too embarrassing to even call hardship. Instead, I felt overwhelming gratitude and honor that I could participate, even in the smallest way, in the journey that Jesus and those faithful missionaries walked.Thank you so very much for remembering me during Pastor Appreciation Month, for signing your names with love, and for giving me such a thoughtful and beautiful gift as I grow into the pastor God called me to be.Though what I can do on my own is small, I pray once again that God will grant me the strength and love to deeply cherish every single person He brings into my life. I love you all! ❤️
